In the summer of 2023, due to some unfortunate events, we had to move my 79-year-old mom—who has Alzheimer’s type dementia—from California to Texas to be closer to my family so we could provide better care. Cheryl Jones had been a caregiver for my stepdad (who passed in 2021), and after his passing, she would check in on my mom from time to time. Cheryl became an essential part of my mom’s life, helping her get to appointments and improving her quality of life. On top of all that, she kept me updated regularly, which was invaluable since I lived so far away.

When we moved Mom to Texas, Cheryl came up with a brilliant idea: she suggested Mom take a weekend trip to San Francisco to say goodbye to some important family members. There was no way I could manage this myself—between my four kids and the busyness of summer, it just wasn’t feasible. But Cheryl reassured me that she would take care of everything, and boy, did she ever!

Mom loves luxury and shopping, so Cheryl took her on a little shopping spree to prepare for the trip. She booked a stay at the Fairmont (Mom’s favorite hotel), securing a room with an incredible view. Cheryl organized dinners, took Mom shopping, and arranged for her to spend quality time with family before her move to Texas. She made sure Mom was packed with everything she needed, took care of her medication, and kept me in the loop with regular updates, pictures, and nightly phone calls, so I felt like I was part of the whole experience.

Looking back, that weekend was truly perfect for Mom. Without Cheryl’s dedication, attention to detail, and exceptional organization, none of it would have been possible. I am incredibly grateful for everything Cheryl did. She has such a deep empathy for others and is one of the most thorough and caring people I’ve ever known. Her passion for caregiving is evident in everything she does.

I’m so incredibly grateful for Cheryl and all that she did for my family

Kind regards,

Jenn Kropholler
